The Miami event calendar, and how to move around it
The weeks when the city fills up, and what that does to getting anywhere.
Miami has a season for everything
Several times a year the city fills to capacity and ordinary transport stops working. Hotels sell out, rideshare pricing multiplies, and the roads around one venue take the whole neighbourhood with them. Here is when that happens and what to plan for.
Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix
Held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, typically in May. The circuit is built around the stadium and the whole area is restricted for the weekend. Everyone leaves at once when the race ends, so a pre-agreed pickup point away from the main exit flow is the difference between leaving and standing. See our Miami Grand Prix transport guide.
Art Basel Miami Beach
Early December, across Miami Beach and spilling into Wynwood and the Design District. Multiple venues, private views and dinners, and a schedule that changes during the day. Most clients book a chauffeur by the hour for the week rather than trip by trip. Full detail in our Art Basel transport guide.
Miami International Boat Show
February, split across sites with limited parking and shuttle-dependent access. Getting between venues is the whole problem, and it is the reason most attendees book a car for the day. See the Boat Show transport guide for the 2027 dates and venues.
Miami Music Week and Ultra
Late March. Downtown and Miami Beach both run late, roads close around Bayfront Park, and 2am pricing on ride apps is at its worst of the year. Evening charter is the practical answer. Our Ultra and Music Week guide covers the road closures.
Miami Open
March, at Hard Rock Stadium. Also affects Key Biscayne traffic through association and habit, and the Rickenbacker Causeway backs up. See the Miami Open transport guide.
Cruise season
Roughly November through April, at its heaviest on Saturdays and Sundays. PortMiami can process tens of thousands of passengers in a morning. See cruise port transfers for how boarding windows work.
Spring break and the winter season
March for spring break, and December through March for the season generally. Miami Beach is at its busiest, and the causeways are the bottleneck.
Booking around an event
Book early. Event weekends sell out every operator in the city, not just us. Most event work runs as hourly charter, and we agree pickup points before the day rather than on it. See event transport for what that includes.
